Abstract:
This paper outlines some developments on increased communications between European business registers. The major developments are taking place in the following project areas: § European Business Register: A network allowing searches across the registers § Business Register Interoperability throughout Europe – BRITE: a research project on integrated
register-to-register communications § Registered Entity ID – REID: a standardised way of presenting company numbers and § brXML: a standard XML message structure for the exchange of messages on registered entities

Vito is currently Member of the Board of the EBR (European Business Register ) EEIG. Responsible of Business development with the European Institutions and of projects management; He has been the first President of the EBR EEIG (1998 – 1999) and the first President (years 2000-2001) of the European Commerce Registers Forum, the Association of the Commerce
Registers from 24 European Countries. Member of the Board of ChamberSign Aisbl, the Association between 9 countries aiming at the establishment of the European Chambers of Commerce Certification Authorities infrastructure; He has been participant to the EC Company Law Working Group (DG Internal Market) for the Amendment of the First Company Law Directive.
Participant to the Expert Group on B2B Marketplaces (DG Entreprise). He has been Co-ordinator of different multinational contracts/projects, with specific experience in managing multi-national and multi-disciplinary (technical, legal, marketing, training, etc.) teams. He is currently coordinating the BRITE (Business Register Interoperability Throughout Europe)
project, co-funded by the European Commission, IST Programme
